Isn't It a Shame?

I always have mixed emotions when I see swimming stuff now. The Olympic Trials are going on in Etobicoke right now, and my mom sent me an article from the Citizen about it...basically everyone the article mentions are people that I was good friends with when I was swimming...one of the guys from Perth that I used to room with at some of the national meets made the Olympic team I'm pretty sure, so that's terribly awesome. I remember the first time I shared a room with this guy, I thought he was so odd...we were doing breakfast the first morning and he whips out a toaster, AND a blender from his backpack! Maybe you had to be there for it to be funny....but like, going to a hotel and bringing your own toaster and blender? hardcore!

Anyways, it really is a pretty neat feeling to look at the olympic trials, and see all the top guys in pretty much every event, and say "I know them!" Its always sad to think that "that could have been me", but I think I'm pretty pleased with the way that everything worked out for me. I think if I'd committed so much of my life to it all the way through the end of high school and university, and if I never made it to the olympics, that it would really suck. Its also kinda neat seeing a lot of people from my old club that were like...7 when I was swimming but that are 16 or whatever now and are doing really well.
