Movie Madness

I've been on a tear lately - I've watched 5 movies in the past 5 days!!

Thus far I have watched:
- Pirates of the Carribean(the original, from 2003 or whenever). I was pleasantly surprised...thought it was fun! A little surprised it's as huge of a blockbuster success as it is, but good nonetheless.

- The Da Vinci code...I read the book and thought it was decent. The movie however...well frankly, it was absolutely terrible. Probably one of the 25 worst movies I've ever seen. I thought that Bring It On was a MUCH better movie.

- The Date Movie - UNCUT! While this was moderately entertaining, I think I'm too old to really enjoy this kind of movie anymore...especially when there's no nudity. "UNCUT"!?

- Aeon Flux...the trailers for this one looked quite good, very "Matrix"...however it bombed in theaters. To be honest, I thought it was actually really quite well made, really good special effects / scenery and whatnot. Plot was mediocre, but on the whole I'd recommend it if you're into that kind of movie...I'd put it at 7/10.

- V for Vendetta...again, I thought the trailers looked good, but it made less money in its full run than the latest Pirates of the Carribean made in 5 days. This is probably my favourite one so far....quite unique and intriguing. A little violent, but not bad. Definitely not a "date movie", but relevent and well made. I'd give it a 9/10.

In the pipeline I also have Munich, Ong Bak 2 and Chicken Little : )

Comments:
i saw brokeback mountain last night. i ended up fast forwarding through the last half hour of it or so. i see what the critics meant when they said that it really wasn't meant for the small screen, i think it would have been better in the theatre.

Dave and I saw mission impossible 3 in Manila, I don't know if it's out on dvd yet though. We liked it, and I actually understood what was going on this time.

We also liked the Da Vinci Code, except for the ending, but we really were expecting it to be fairly bad because Tom Hanks didn't seem to fit the main character. It exceeded our very low expectations, and let us into the movie theatre oasis, away from Manila.
