Stuck in the Ice Age
For anyone that missed the boat, it was my birthday yesterday - a whoppin 25 years old now. It's definitely a progression...I think I've crossed the barrier from "youth" to "adult" - I can't hardly get 'student' prices on anything anymore(although I did manage to get 2 round trip bus tickets for Waterloo just recently at student prices since my student card has an April 2006 sticker on it). Thanks to all my friends for emailing/calling...even Simon remembered!!
I celebrated in style with an indian buffet lunch, then I went out to the movies with Laura in the evening. I'd bought myself a Cineplex christmas gift pack at Christmas...it's like, for $30 you get $30 in gift certificates, plus a bunch of coupons for different restaurants, some free popcorn, and a free admission on your birthday!
We went to see Ice Age: The Meltdown. It wasn't quite as funny as the first one, but was definitely one of the funnier animated movies I've seen in a while. A good date movie.
I need to decide what to do for Easter weekend! I'm tempted to go home to Ottawa, but haven't yet booked a ticket and wouldn't be surprised if they're all sold out. Who all will be in Ottawa?

Hot Hot Heat
I was walking down Queen Street here in Toronto today, and went past a women's fitness centre.
The sign out front advertised yoga classes....but not NORMAL yoga classes, nono... "We specialize in HOT YOGA".
This piqued my interest. What pray tell is HOT YOGA? Is it more like "sexy" hot, or like...hot like a craze? Or is it more literal, like you do yoga in a sauna?
A little research brought me to this page: http://hotyoga.ca. It sounds like it really IS hot like heat.
"The heated environment helps prevent injury, improves circulation and promotes detoxification."
Huh. What will they think of next?

Friends
My home boys Simon and Richard, also known as "Alpha Team" have been the sources of many fond memories.
One occassion in particular has always amused if not slightly embarassed me. It's true. One weekend the boys came up to waterloo...we had some beers, played some darts, had some chinese food...and choreographed a dance.
While I'd like to think our dance was solid - in fact I would describe it as "inspired", it was also limited. Limited in part by the confines of my bedroom, but realistically it was more so limited by our collective artistic and creative abilities, as well as by our poor, typical 'male' hand eye coordination and 'two left feet'. Nonetheless, we perservered.
These guys though are a whole other cup of tea. These moves are rather impressive, especially given how long the song is. It seems that they get it all in on one cut/take too which is even more impressive.
Boys, whattaya think? Up for the challenge?

The Sea Inside
I've been quite remiss in terms of my blogging. I've been working insane hours the past month and a bit - like 9am-midnight kind of hours.
I was in Hamilton last weekend visiting simon at his palatial estates. Good times and good eats were had by all. That simon boy is all grown up...he goes his own groceries, and cooks his own meals now. Also, he has a wicked cool tablet pc.
In other news, I watched this movie "The Sea Inside" yesterday. It's a true story about this guy in spain who broke his neck when he was 19 and spent 30 years paralyzed from the neck down before deciding he wanted to commit suicide - but couldn't without help, which was against the law. So he wrote a book, and took the case to courts at all different levels before ultimately having his friends help him. I remember a woman in Canada going through much of the same. Quite an interesting movie.
Not sure if I mentioned it on here, but I also rented "Saint Ralph" the other day, which was a fantastic movie about a kid from Hamilton. Really funny and touching, highly recommend it - especially since it's canadian!

Lovin it
Saw hardly ANY snow on the ground here in toronto all winter. Now that we're well into spring, and have gotten going into april, it only seems fitting to wake up to a nice blanket of white fluffly stuff on the ground. Oh yah, and it was 20 degrees on monday.
Also, last night at 1am it was 1:02:03 4/5/06. Kinda cool no?
